'About me...
In a nutshell, I am passionate about supporting small businesses'
Sonya Grattan

After losing my father at just five years old, my mother remarried a Breton named Jean Alain when I was fourteen. This pivotal moment ignited my passion for France, as our school holidays there fueled a dream of living in the country one day. However, took nearly forty years for that dream to materialize, life and raising children took priority.

My professional journey began at an accountancy firm, where I discovered my enthusiasm for small businesses while managing their accounts and developing essential business skills. I later transitioned to the Nuclear Industry, where I facilitated client and managed the shipping of radioactive materials globally, overseeing projects valued at £5 billion. Eventually, I began coaching professionals within the industry to implement effective change initiatives.

Brexit turned out to be a turning point for me, providing the motivation I needed to finally realise my dreams, even amidst the challenges of the Covid pandemic. Relocating was isolating, especially with my husband still in the UK, but the welcoming community in Eymet made me feel at home despite my limited French.

Now, in France, I run two businesses. I recognised a need in the market for English-speaking expats struggling to find local services, which led me to create a platform that connects them with ready-to-buy customers. My second venture, Biz Savvy, offers business support tailored to entrepreneurs, helping them the challenges faced when starting out.

I’ve also developed pocket-sized business guides to address common gaps. My extensive background in project and business management, backed by relevant qualifications, allows me to share valuable insights through my blogs. Ultimately, I am passionate about empowering business success and making knowledge accessible. I view these ventures as hobbies that keep mind engaged during retirement. My primary goal is to support fellow entrepreneurs in their journeys, believing that shared experiences can illuminate paths to success.
